It might even be fun if you have lots of free time and endless patience. It's still an interesting concept for a game though. Having to waste a half hour over and over, just because the game surprised killed you out of nowhere, stops being fun quickly. The dark side of this game no one ever mentions, is that if you screw up and die (and death comes arbitrarily) you will have to re-do whole sections of play including unskippable reams of dialogue. Also as has been said, if you have the option, the MGS:HD collection version is the way to go.Īlso if you never played Disgaea 1&2, or you did and really love them, you'll get some amazing bang for you buck, if they're your cup of tea that isĪnd just because I know we mutually enjoy the series, there's a Yakuza game for the psp, it never got brought over to the west, and I have no clue how good it is, or if it's the same style as the PS2/3 versions, all I know is Kiryu isn't the protagonist. That's pretty much where I hit a roadblock and quit. To get the best guns you have to pay the same missions over and over to build up your base's staff to have the required stats to research the best items and weapons. It takes forever and day to grind up for the best equipment, and the task are just frustrating in their length.

It does however have the same trappings that many psp games have (Dissidia in particular, and Crisis Core from what I hear). MGS: Peace Walker is an astounding game, it did a solid job of following up MGS3, even if I'm not big on the plot personally. It's very old, and I've never personally played it, but the Ghost and Goblins game that came out at the start of the psp's lifecycle looked very cool from the footage I saw. I don't have my collection on-hand to look through the stuff I actually finished. There's definitely more, but my memory is completely failing me right now. Also, if you liked Star Ocean: The Second Story, First Departure is a nice remake of the original in that style. I'm going to assume you've already played Ys Seven and Oath in Felghana.

However, I suspect if you've got access to the PS3 port, you're better off going that route. I enjoyed the heck out of Peace Walker, by the way. If you're just looking for a rock-solid RPG with no frills, Brave Story probably fits the bill.

And I'm also a little nonplussed by not having the sequel available to play in English.

I haven't given it enough of a chance, honestly. I've heard good things about the last Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. If you can get past the iffy character designs, it's well worth playing.
